The Museum of Photography was inaugurated in 1987 in the Mont-sur-Marchienne monastery and is nowadays one of the largest and most important museums of photography in Europe, extending over 6,000 sqm with a collection of over 80,000 photographies of which more than 800 are on permanent display and 3 million negatives conserved. Since 2008, a new audaciously designed wing runs along the museum providing it with a modern and functional contrast. Temporary exhibits are organised every three or four months covering essential milestones of this medium and unveiling the process of contemporary artistic creation.
